Cornwall youngster Jack Stephens stand out performances for Plymouth Argyle at the Milk Cup have helped secure him a contract at the club.

He is one of four promising young footballers from the county who have taken another big step in realising their dreams of making it in the game by signing contracts with Plymouth Argyle.

Stephens is a 15-year-old defender who joined Argyle at the age of 11 and stands at 6ft already.

The burgeoning talents of Duchy quartet Jared Sims (Truro), Isaac Vassell (Newquay), Jordan Copp (Saltash) and Jack Stephens (Torpoint) have been recognised by being offered apprentice professional contracts with the Championship outfit.

Another player being tipped for greater things is Vassell, nephew of former England and Aston Villa striker Darius. The 16-year-old forward, like Sims, has progressed through Newquay's football development centre.

Former Stoke City, Everton and Aston Villa defender Pejic is one of Argyle's coaches being tasked with nurturing their talents.

"I have been involved with this group for nearly three years now and we always knew they were a good group," said Pejic.

"Along with our Centre of Excellence coaches, we have spent ever such a lot of time and effort in getting them to the advanced stage that they have now reached."

Pejic has worked with the likes of Jermain Defoe, Aaron Lennon and Stewart Downing in the past as the regional director for the North East FA.
